Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before placing an order with Mikes Carpets Direct Ltd. By purchasing from us, you agree to be bound by the following terms, which outline the basis of sale, delivery, installation, and service.

1. Payment and Ownership

• All goods are at the customer’s risk once delivered or collected.
• Ownership of goods will only transfer to the customer once full payment has been received.
• Mikes Carpets Direct Ltd reserves the right to charge for all work carried out at the customer’s request.
• In the event of non-payment, we reserve the right to reclaim the goods and enter the customer’s premises to do so if necessary.

2. Appointments and Delivery Times

• All delivery, fitting, and consultation dates are given on a best-effort basis and are approximate.
• Mikes Carpets Direct Ltd is not liable for delays beyond our reasonable control.
• If a delay is caused or requested by the customer, additional charges may apply to cover extra costs incurred.

3. Inspection of Goods

• Customers should inspect all goods immediately upon delivery or after fitting.
• Any faults or fitting issues must be reported to Mikes Carpets Direct Ltd in writing within 2 days of delivery or completion.

4. Pricing and Quotations

• All quotes and estimates are subject to change.
• Prices may be amended if necessary to correct errors or reflect unforeseen conditions.
• Quotations assume that sub-flooring is in good condition unless otherwise stated.

5. Cancellations and Returns

• Orders for goods cut or made to size, or specially ordered for the customer, cannot be cancelled once production or cutting has begun.
• Cancellations of LVT, laminate, or wood flooring within 3 days of the installation date will incur a £50 charge.
• Cancellations of carpet fittings within 1 day of the scheduled fitting will incur a £30 charge to cover fitter costs.
• Mikes Carpets Direct Ltd reserves the right to cancel any order before fitting, delivery, or collection if circumstances beyond our control prevent fulfilment. In such cases, the company’s only obligation is to refund any deposit or payment made.

6. Indemnity

• The customer agrees to indemnify Mikes Carpets Direct Ltd against any third-party claims, including those alleging negligence, arising from this contract.
• The customer also agrees to indemnify the company for all legal costs incurred in defending such claims.
• This includes liabilities arising from work or goods supplied according to customer specifications, instructions, or designs.

7. Claims and Product Issues

• Mikes Carpets Direct Ltd will not accept claims for soiling or shading variations on goods ordered at different times.
• Claims for faulty goods will be settled based on the original selling price to the customer.
• It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure all materials are of merchantable quality before installation.
• The company cannot accept liability for claims resulting from failure to check materials prior to fitting.

8. Door Trimming

• Door trimming is not included in the fitting service unless previously agreed in writing.
• If doors require trimming for clearance, fitters may remove them so that the customer can arrange for trimming separately by a carpenter.

9. Pipes, Wiring, and Underfloor Heating

• Customers must inform Mikes Carpets Direct Ltd or their fitters of the location of underfloor heating, pipes, or electrical wiring that could be affected during installation.
• The company accepts no liability for damage to such installations if this information is not provided beforehand.

10. Lengths and Measurements

• Full roll lengths are approximate.
• For goods cut or ordered to size, a tolerance of ±1.25% of quoted measurements will be deemed as fulfilment of the contract (in accordance with British Standard 3655:1974).
• If dimensions are provided by the customer, the company is not responsible for any errors resulting from incorrect measurements.

11. Right of Set-Off

• Customers cannot withhold payment or set off any amount against sums due to Mikes Carpets Direct Ltd unless such a claim has been accepted in writing by the company.

12. Storage Policy

• Goods held in storage for more than 3 months may incur a £1 per day storage charge.

13. Fitting and Installation

• While every care is taken, minor scuff marks may occur on skirting boards or recently painted surfaces.
• Mikes Carpets Direct Ltd and its fitters accept no liability for such minor cosmetic damage.
• Fitting areas must be clear and empty before fitting. If furniture needs to be moved, this must be arranged in advance and may incur an extra charge.
• Fitters do not move heavy, electrical, or white goods. If they are required to do so, the company accepts no liability for damage unless caused by negligence.
• It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that there is adequate access to bring the goods into the property.

14. Carpet Care and Maintenance

• All pile carpets may show shading or light/dark patches from pile crushing.
• Regular vacuuming will help reduce this effect.
• Pile reversal is a natural characteristic and not a manufacturing defect.
• Carpets may fade with prolonged exposure to direct sunlight — we recommend using blinds or UV protection to minimise fading.

15. Liability for Damage or Injury

• While we take all reasonable precautions, Mikes Carpets Direct Ltd is not liable for any loss, injury, or damage (including consequential loss) arising from the use or installation of our goods.
• We are not responsible for damage caused when carrying goods through difficult or restricted spaces.

16. Marketing and Communication

• We use your personal information solely to process your orders and manage your account.
• Where you have opted in, we may send offers and promotions by post, email, or text.
• You can opt out at any time by contacting us at info@mikescarpets.uk or using the unsubscribe option on any marketing email.

17. Statutory Rights
    Nothing in these Terms and Conditions affects your statutory consumer rights under UK law.
